ASTM A519 AISI4140 Alloy Steel Tube Seamless For Mechanical
Production Introduction
ASTM A519 covers several grades of carbon and alloy steel seamless mechanical tubing. It is manufactured by hot working and then cold finishing the steel into round, square, rectangle or special shapes. AISI 4140 is a steel formula designation indicating medium carbon content with strengthening alloys that include chromium, manganese, silicon, molybdenum, sulfur and phosphorus.
Mechanical tubing in sizes up to and including 12 - 3/4 in. (323.8 mm) outside diameter for round tubes with wall thicknesses as required. The tubes shall be furnished in the following shapes, as specified by the purchaser: round, square, rectangular, and special sections.

Ordering Information
Condition: The purchaser shall specify a sizing method and if required, a thermal treatment.
Sizing Methods: HF-Hot Finished, CW-Cold worked, RT-Rough Turned, G- Ground.
Thermal Treatments: A-Annealed, N- Normalized, QT-Quenched and Tempered, SR-Stress Relieved or Finished Anneal.
